1949년 이후 錢鍾書의 知的 활동에 대한 學術史的 고찰 ―《宋詩選註》를 중심으로

This article examines Annotated Selection of Song Poetry (宋詩選註) by Qian Zhongshu from the perspective of intellectual history, focusing on the scholarly significance of his work amid the social tensions of transitional China. Moving beyond binary frameworks such as tradition versus modernity, the study foregrounds Qian’s intellectual predicaments, strategic choices, and the controversies surrounding the text. It argues that Qian’s deliberate silence under the political pressures of the 1950s constituted a conscious intellectual stance rather than passive withdrawal. Although shaped by an era in which ideology constrained scholarship, Annotated Selection of Song Poetry reflects Qian’s distinctive criteria and integrative approach to Song poetry. The debates it provoked further reveal both the politicization of academic criticism and the limited possibility of academic independence in that period.
