초록

This study aimed to examine relationships between mothers’ smart-device addiction levels and parenting styles, parenting stress, and the effects of sensation seeking trait to mothers’ smart-device addiction. 291 mothers in Kyung-gi province responded to the survey. The results showed that increased levels of mothers’ smart-device addiction levels showed lower warmth- and autonomy parenting style and higher rejection-parenting style. Sensation seeking trait positively predicted mothers’ smart-device addiction. This study suggested that potential risks of mothers’ smart-device addiction in terms of providing negative parenting environment to children. Also, the high susceptibility of the mothers to boredom in daily routines tended to show high smart-device addiction. Thus, an intervention program to prevent mothers’ smart-device addiction and mothers’ personality as well as parenting variables should be considered.
