Bring the Internet to EFL classroom

The purpose of this study was to understand how the students themselves perceived English class integrating the Internet. Various activities using the Internet were implemented in adult EFL class to improve their language skills. Especially, a type of conferencing using the bulletin board system was chosen to provide the alternative channel of communication. The research methods include a survey approach, open-ended interviews with selected students, and analysis of students' e-mail messages and other electronic texts on web-based bulletin board. The results of the study showed that students were anxious to post their writing on the bulletin board while they enjoyed sending the writing through e-mail. The issue of electronic literacy was brought up. The findings suggested Web-based BB discussion as a means of integrating technology in English education while encouraging students to develop knowledge through collaboration.
