The character of Velleda in Chateaubriand’s work is portrayed in quite remarkably various ways. It is characterized by a love ghost, Chateaubriand himself, and a sylph, who is a Gallic fairy to have the power of magic and prophecy as well as control over nature. In this vein, the character of Velleda is a mixture of passion, sadness and pain that appears more or less beyond Chateaubriand’s memories. Finally, recalling his own memories of youth and creating a suffering character, Chateaubriand cannot help wandering around the castle forever, in such places as heaths, woods and ponds, etc. Chateaubriand’s tears and dreary memories, engraved in his desperate soul, love and fury for the sylph, but not voluptuous pain, have also permeated the soul of Velleda. As his imagination could always make ​​a strong dramatic event, Chateaubriand could see his sylph Velleda’s characteristics as much as possible.
