The perceptions of knowledge sharing behavior in virtual community: Using an extended social cognitive theory approach

In this study, the virtual community knowledge sharing behavioral characteristics and perceptions of Korean undergraduates were analyzed. In regards to the knowledge sharing behavior in virtual community, various researchers have been conducting related studies because of its utilization importance in education and business. Based on such perspective, this study analyzed the causal relationship among factors that influence Korean undergraduates‟ knowledge sharing behaviors from the perspective of an extended social cognitive theory (SCT). The analysis result showed that Korean undergraduates had a tendency of emphasizing the sharing goal orientation item in knowledge sharing activity, which was found to be the biggest influencing factor on the outcome expectance and knowledge sharing behavior elements. The result signifies that Korean undergraduates emphasize the openness and social interaction elements in knowledge sharing activity. The result of this study is providing significant implications not only in the area of social technology studies but also for studies on the development of the enhanced national knowledge sharing system. © Research India Publications.
