Medical treatment, dietetics, and exercise are being recognized as important means for treating diabetes and various effects of exercise in patients with diabetes are being reported but there is a lack of studies pertaining to walking exercises and their effects on diabetes patients. In this study, a walking exercise program (exercise intensity of 60% HR max, frequency of 4 sessions per week, duration of 60 minutes per session, for total of 16 weeks) was conducted with female patients with type 2 diabetes but with no complications, and the following conclusions were made. 1. Walking excercise decrease body weight by 5.24%, body fat by 3.7%, blood sugar by 56.0 mg/㎗, Glycosylated hemoglobin by 1.43%, and insulin by 2.64μIU/㎖ 2. Total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, and neutral fat decreased significantly by 29mg/㎗, 29.1mg/㎗, and 27.6mg/㎗ respectively, and high density lipoprotein increased by 4.0mg/㎗. 3.
