산업보안의 개념적 정의에 관한 고찰

초록

The competitiveness of the country seems to depend upon industrial security. The importance of industrial security cannot be emphasized too much, in this sense, which renders the necessity of the researches on industrial security. The researches upon industrial security, however, focus mainly on the realities and problems of industrial security in South Korea and its legal and technological remedies. Very few studies on conceptualization of industrial security have been attempted so far. All academic disciplines require the process of conceptualization for the beginning of academic establishment. Concentrating on industrial espionage, some conceptual definitions of industrial security have narrowed the boundary of industrial security until now, which excludes many important areas of industrial security. The narrow interpretation of industrial security does not help the academic establishment of industrial security either. Despite having the different meaning, in addition, the mixed use of the concept of security and safety is one of the factors hampering the conceptualization of industrial security. Therefore it is necessary to grasp the concept of industrial security not narrowing on industrial espionage but widening to loss prevention and asset protection in industrial area. Such a wide concept of industrial security has been accepted in most advanced countries including the United States. The current trend moving to security convergence also stresses the wide concept of industrial security. When the concept of industrial security is defined widely, industrial espionage, information security, risk management and security convergence could be considered in a holistic dimension. The wide and clear conceptualization would contribute to pave the way for the academic establishment of industrial security.
