초록

Jarzynski suggested an interesting thermodynamic equation that relates free energy change of a system and work done on the system during arbitrary nonequilibrium processes, which has been believed to hold irrespective of detailed nature of the nonequilibrium process. However, we repot here that there exists a sufficient and necessary validity condition for the Jarzynski relation to hold for an adiabatic parameter switching process and that the free energy change estimated by Jarzynski relation is not always correct.
