초록

The purpose of this paper was to explore the academic identity and future tasks for promoting the professional status of KAPESGW in our society. First, three assumptions were discussed to indicate the academic identity of KPEAGW and then two crisis of the academic identity were indicated to compare the identity of Korean Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, & Dance, and Korean Association of Women's Studies. Second, it was explored about the possibility of Women's Studies in Sports as one of disciplines and indicated the academic knowledge system of Women's Studies in Sports. Third, three future tasks were discussed to include Women's Studies in Sports as one of the disciplinary classification lists by National Research Foundation of Korea, to address the publication aim and range of Journal of Korean Physical Education Association for Girls and Women, & to organize sub-research groups in Women's Studies in Sports. In conclusion, it was recognized that the academic identity of KAPESGW had not been obvious. Future research efforts on the academic identity should be regularly discussed in order to improve the status and competency of KAPESGW.
