What Factors Influence Macroeconomic Indicators? Evidence from Asian Markets

Using data from 2000 to 2014, this study examines the interrelationship among economic growth, savings, and inflation in 26 Asian countries. We use fixed and random effects models in the analysis and investigate country and year effects. The results show that country effects are statistically significant, while time effects are not. The data reflect heterogeneity because they encompass multiple countries. The findings suggest that inflation negatively affects overall gross domestic product (GDP), while savings have a positive effect. The fixed and random effects models both show that population growth adversely influences the GDPs of all examined countries. However, according to the random effects model, exchange rates negatively affect GDP, whereas the fixed effects model indicates a positive impact.
