초록
In a poem about Lee Jung-seob and his paintings, the speaker becomes an effective tool for the poet to reenact the inspiration from Lee Jung-seob and his paintings. Each narrator in the poem represented Lee Jung-seob’s image of the ideal human being by showing one aspect of his life, expressed paintings through literation, and conveyed messages that were not easily felt through the paintings. This paper analyzed the types of narrators in four categories: i) when the narrator is a poet, ii) when the narrator is Lee Jung-seob, iii) not revealed, and iv) when the narrator is a character in the painting. When the narrator is the poet himself/herself, opinions of the paintings or understandings of Lee Jung-seob"s life are projected to the narrator, and the feelings poet experienced shows the poet"s interpretation of the subject intensively through the narrator’s attitude. When the narrator is Lee Jung-seob, the narrator speaks in a tone that “I”, meaning the poet, cannot have and delivers the topic that the poet is trying to say through prior information. Thus, when a dramatic person like Lee Jung-seob was used as a , the message is delivered more effectively because it has a different tone to match the message the poet was trying to express. When the narrator is not revealed in the poem, the implementation is brief since he can only write objective facts based on the painting. This is because the elements of the painting"s shape were considered more important than appreciating it. This proves the viewer"s interpretation of the painting itself and can be seen as having the effect of shaping the picture through language. When the narrator is a character in the painting, the poem is developed by the narrator’s monologue, which serves to enlighten the reader by stating the artist"s intention, ideological messages that cannot be specified in a particular form, and ideological topics. The monologue is also effective when delivering what is audible rather than tangible, allowing the reader to focus on the narrator"s voice. The poetic narrator reveals the meaning of the painting in the poem through distance from the subject. The poet presented the first criticism between the painting and the viewer through the narrator, allowing them to appreciate it with a refined message. By using language, the poet becomes a link between art and the public while allowing poetry to play a critical role, and seeks to expand the literary realm.
