As global companies face a changing commercial trade environment, a global supply chain network that can promptly respond to a shift in demand is becoming urgent. It is, therefore, a common objective among global companies to optimize their entire supply system using prompt and accurate methods. Global companies are also trying to secure dominant competitive positions in the global supply chain by employing new processes, building partnerships and securing out sourcing. In this study, we investigate the interrelationships among key parameters in the global supply chain and their effects on business performance, process innovation, and business partnership. We conducted an empirical study to determine the significant variables of business performance, process innovation, and business partnership in various industries. Our research findings show that I) accuracy in forecasting and the ability to adjust to a changing business environment are determinant factors for improving process innovation, 2) customer service, partner reliability, outsourcing, and standardization are required for building successful business partnerships, 3) business partnership has a moderate effect on business performance in some industries, and 4) inter-correlations exist among business performance, process innovation, and business partnership. This study suggests how the global SCM is applied within Korea's manufacturing industry and how it could be extended to other regions.
