The Impact of Supply Chain Network Evolution and Behavioral Biases of Participants on Supply Chain Structure and Performance

초록

This study examines the impact of supply chain network evolution and participants’ behavioral biases on network structure and performance. We simulate supply chain network formation using the Generalized Preferential Attachment(GPA) model, focusing on trading partner preferences. Decision-making models that consider multiple trading partners and participants’ behavioral biases towards cooperation are developed and integrated into a simulation framework. Results show that preferential attachment to highly connected firms leads to more centralized and shorter networks, resulting in decreased overall performance and imbalanced profit distribution. In addition, cooperative tendencies can improve supply chain outcomes, emphasizing the importance of fostering collaborative behavior and trust among participants to enhance supply chain performance.
