대학스포츠 정책변화에 따른 체육특기자 신입생의 대학생활 문화 이해

초록

Korean University Sport Federation(KUSF) joining 92 universities since 2017 has decided a regulation that all student athletes in college level who want to attend a university match should get above C zero credit. The changed policy has greatly impacted on the entire lives of college student athletes in Korea. In a sense, the purpose of this study is to understand the college life (academic life and sports life) of the freshmen in 2017, according to the changed university sport policy. Five freshman students from a private university located in Seoul city and Gyeoggi province are purposely selected as research participants, followed by in-depth interviews, non-participation observations, and document analysis. The collected data are analyzed based on the domain analysis and classification analysis proposed by Spradley (1980). As a result, it was explored that positive changes on academic lives of college student athletes and also two opposites aspects of sport lives such as positive and negative cultures in university sport clubs. However, it was found that the positive change of student athletes in a university is due to passing the obstacle for attending inter-collegiate match, not to paying attending to academic motivation. Additionally, their college lives have been continuing very busy so that the sport lives have been positively changed due to the change of academic lives.
