The Influence of Self-Directed Learning on Subjective Career Success and the moderating effects of Leader-Member Exchange(LMX)

초록

In changing career environment, the importance of self-directed career development is increasing, and it is necessary to enhance the career success of the members in the organization through effective communication and leadership among the members. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of self-directed learning on the success of subjective career and to test the moderating effect of LMX on the influence of self-directed learning on subjective career success. For this purpose, the survey was conducted for adults with work experience and a total 218 questionnaire responses were analyzed. Cognitive domain, positive domain, and behavioral domain were all positively related to subjective career success. In addition, the LMX has a moderating effect on the relationship between self-directed learning and subjective career success. In other words, the higher the level of self-directed learning, the more satisfied the career success, the better the possibility of employment and the feeling of security. The results of this study suggest that the organization should actively seek ways to increase the subjective career success by promoting the self-directed learning of the members, and to support the psychological career success of the members through constructing the leader-member relationship considering the characteristics of the members.
