Liberal arts have long shared the “timeless idea”of the unity of knowledge. “Hortus Deliciarum (the Garden of Delights)”and “Consilience”demonstrate the course of its evolution symbolically. The unity of knowledge aims to bring knowledge to a transcendental level as a “sacred language,”and it can also converge all knowledge into the smallest matter as the “language of reduction.”The analogies “the Garden of ‘Delights,”filled with blossoms of a variety of knowledge, and Ariadne’s“Thread,” that runs through all knowledge, indicate that the idea of the unity of knowledge has created a broad range of discontinuous and diverse coordinates between the transcendental spiritual area and the concrete physical area. Humanities and science, the convergence of the two cultures, is a whole other journey toward the unity of knowledge. Different coordinates coexist on the modern stage of knowledge, and the unification of humanities and science requires a common language that can weave “Garden”and “Thread”together. These two areas share the sensibilities of the “wonder-the beyond- relationship”with nature, and the area of Poetic Science can be constructed on this basis. The new narrative of poetic science begins with the paradox of this existence, that is, a “matter”and, at the same time, a “spirit”capable of imagining and choosing its own genesis and future. The language of poetic science narrates the complexity and uniqueness of life based on scientific knowledge. It weaves the certainty of scientific knowledge and human potential and converts “knowledge”to “value.”The biological knowledge of DNA can be reorganized into a narrative of destiny and choice. Poetic science can be a type of platform for a convergence, here and now, on the journey for the “timeless idea.”
