This study translated the Multiple Stimulus Types Ambiguity Tolerance Scale (MSTAT) into Korean and examined its psychometric properties in a Korean adult sample to assess individual orientations toward novelty, complexity, and insolvability. Data were analyzed using item analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, item response theory (IRT) analysis, and tests of convergent and discriminant validity. Results indicated that the Korean MSTAT retained the unidimensional structure of the original scale, leading to a finalized 10-item single-factor model. IRT analysis further demonstrated that all items possessed high discrimination parameters, effectively capturing individual differences in the latent trait of ambiguity tolerance. Additionally, correlational analyses with related psychological constructs supported adequate convergent and discriminant validity. These findings suggest that the Korean version of MSTAT is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing ambiguity tolerance in adults. This study provides a robust empirical foundation for future research in personality and clinical psychology, offering a refined tool for investigating individual differences in navigating ambiguous environments.
