Research on sustainable growth of K-contents in the global OTT era: Focusing on China' policy on Cultural Contents industry

초록

With the‘hate-Korean wave’atmosphere still persisting in China, the recent cultural control policies by China government is making it more difficult for the K-contents' export business to the China market. In this context, an exploratory study was conducted in order to derive measures for sustainable spread of K-Contents by analyzing literature data and policy cases concerned with the relevant industry of the Hallyu Contents and the China cultural Contents. The main results from this research are as follows. First of all, China' probable change for such cultural acceptance as K-contents' entry into China was examined in terms of the cultural aspect, then we searched current status and characteristics of China' Contents market change focusing on OTT platform in the industrial aspect. This study resulted in China's current cultural Contents policy being promoted in such a state that two keynotes of‘control' and‘development' were mutually applied with cross-checking. Secondly, China is currently carrying out an extensive restructuring of the entire cultural Contents industry. This study analyzed cases of such cultural control policies as pre-censorship of drama and movie content, the crackdown on fandom culture, and intensifying transparency in actor fees. Finally, implications of China's culture policy cases were examined, and some suggestions were made for the sustainable spread of K-Contents business in the global OTT era.
