‘혐오표현’의 국어학적 논의 고찰

A Review of Korean Linguistics Research Papers on ‘Hate Speech’

초록

This paper reviewed the Korean linguistic discussion of what is classified as so-called hate speech in the order of terminology, object, factors, and solution. In Korean linguistics, it was found that discussions were mainly conducted ondiscriminatory words and discriminatory expressions, and the targets of discriminatory expressions were diverse, including gender, disability, race, age, education, and region. Compared to discussions related to gender or disability, sexual minorities There was relatively little related discussion. Since the discussion of hate speech began in earnest in Korean society, it has been discussed as discriminatory words and discriminatory expressions, so most discussions used this term, and there were also cases where discriminatoryexpressions and hate expressions were used separately depending on the level. In addition, many discussions included ‘bad words’ targeting not only social minorities but also non-minorities as expressions of discrimination. This type ofexpression can be used even in situations where the speaker is unaware or does not intend it, and everyday discriminatory expressions often occur in this way. As a solution, alternative words have been used as a direct solution, and methodssuch as revising and supplementing dictionary entries or dictionary definitions have also been proposed. In keeping with the era of artificial intelligence, basic research has also been conducted to help artificial intelligence identifydiscrimination and hate speech. In general, in Korean linguistic discussions, all 'bad words' are discussed as a problem regardless of the minority nature of the target. Considering that discrimination against minorities due to hate is the actual harm of hate speech,in order to solve the problem, it is necessary to limit the target to 'discriminatory speech'. I thought the level of ‘hate speech’ could be appropriate. By doing this, it is possible to have a specific discussion on counter-speech, so it is believedthat the Korean linguistic discussion on hate speech can be expanded to the level of discourse.
