페미니스트 질적 연구의 원리: 입장 인식론과 페미니스트 정치학을 중심으로

초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the main principles of feminist qualitative research based upon revisited feminist standpoint theories. There are three basic assumptions of feminist epistemology. First, all knowledge is socially located. The truth that pretends to be ‘objectivity’ is fundamentally mediated through the social situation and the location of being. Second, it is to think from the socially excluded people of life including women. Third, standpoint means seeing through the viewpoint of the other, so it does not necessarily have to be an existential party. The position is acquired in the context of the struggle, not because it is naturally occurring. Under these premises, feminists have developed various theories and methodologies with poststructuralist and postcolonial feminist contributions, such as gender and sexuality, experience, subjectivity and identity, matrix of intersection and oppression. Specifically, feminist researchers should start by asking questions about male centrality deeply embedded in the existing knowledge system. We should pay attention to women’s experiences as empirical and theoretical resources and raise new research questions derived from them. Second, feminist research is not a study of others but a study of othering process or otherization. It is not simply a study of biological individual women, but of understanding and challenging the social structure that constitutes a group of women-becoming women. Third, it reflects the multilateral power relations. In addition to the relationship between research participants and researchers, the researcher should position his or her own positionality as a criterion for analysis. In conclusion, a feminist identified researcher’s research to realize the feminist politics transforming the structure of gender oppression is a virtue of feminist qualitative research and a real differentiator from other studies.
