초록

This paper examines Choi Chiwon's perception of King Jinseong in Late Silla. King Jinseong was the third and last queen of Silla. King Jinseong symbolizes the change of times when the queen is possible to ascend the throne and at the same time, the queen is no longer crowned. Choi Chiwon is a symbolic figure who can understand these changes in the times. He was one of her contemporaries who was very energetic. Choi Chiwon shows a dual perception of King Jinseong. Choi Chiwon believed that King Jinseong had the legitimacy of the throne. He also acknowledged that it was a period of chaos at the time, but did not recognize the cause as King Jinseong and did not take issue with the gender of the queen. However, he had a dichotomous perception of men and women, and was strongly aware of the gender identity of King Jinseong. Choi Chiwon's dual perception seems to be due to his dichotomy of gender as a Confucian scholar, and on the other hand, his idea of stabilizing the state by strengthening the royal authority in the late Silla Period.
