모바일 뉴스 애플리케이션 인터페이스 디자인의 사용성 평가 연구 - 중국의 모바일 뉴스 애플리케이션을 중심으로 -

초록

This study aims to propose improving ways for user experience in mobile news applications by analyzing usability of interface design. The analysis was performed on Tencent News (腾讯新闻), NetEase News(网易新闻), and TouTiao News (今日头条), which are the top three mobile news applications based on Chinese user scale in the first half of 2015. This study performed a literature review and an empirical study for an effective analysis. First, the definition and features of mobile news applications were investigated from previous research. Then, the current service status of Chinese mobile news applications was analyzed by theoretical survey on related literature.Second, usability factors were derived from a literature review to evaluate mobile news applications. Third, the top three mobile news applications was analyzed by a usability test designed with the usability factors.Finally, the analysis concludes with proposing improvements of interface design for enhanced user experience based on results of the usability test.The improvements are summarized by three categories. First, usability is improved by designing buttons and icons focused on user’s fast recognition.Second, user’s information acquisition from news is accelerated by a modular design concept. Third, usability benefits from a characterful and distinctive screen design.
