Dialectic between Fall and Salvation: Study on the Symbolism of Silver in Trakl's Poem(2)

초록

Trakl's silver is a color that has a broad spectrum of symbolic meaning. The silver color is not fixed in one specific meaning, but repeats the transformation of meaning in various dimensions within the context of individual works. First, the silver color is a reservoir of the unconscious in which the anxiety, unfamiliarity, ego division, panic, thrill, and fear that Trakl experiences are latent. Second, silver is a mask of evil spirits on a religious level and symbolizes the glances of the Holy Spirit. Third, silver is an object that evokes the tragedy and impermanence of life. Fourth, silver is a symbol of the collapse of the world that prevailed at the turn of the century and at the same time symbolizes the revelation of salvation. Silver is the color of the extreme. Silver sits between the opposing poles of despair and hope, ruin and liberation, destruction and purification. In short, Trakl's poem shines in silver in the dialectical tension between fall and salvation. Its silver is tragic, but brilliant. Its silver is terrible, but beautiful.
