병원 속 의료에서 사람의 삶 속 의료로 : 주민의 일상 돌보는 의료인을 원한다

초록

In 2024, the South Korean government introduced a policy to increase the number of medical school students. Following this announcement, the issue of medical professionals has become a prominent topic of public debate within South Korean society. However, discussions regarding the needs of local communities have largely been overlooked. Furthermore, the debate has primarily centred on the medical profession itself, without incorporating the perspectives of citizens. In response to this gap, the Academy of Critical Health Policy organised a roundtable session at the conference titled "Repositioning Health Policy: Opportunities and Challenges in Times of Change," held on 25th April 2025 at Korea University, Seoul, South Korea. The session brought together a diverse range of participants, including representatives from the disabled community, agricultural workers, social workers, non-profit organisation activists, and medical professionals. Collectively, the participants emphasised the need for healthcare professionals who advocate for the well-being of people across all regions of South Korea. They also called for the development of social policies to address this need, alongside efforts to overcome fragmentation within the healthcare system. Ultimately, the session underscored the importance of integrating healthcare into a democratic social policy that effectively meets the needs of the people.
