This study examines the spatial distribution of Parcel Lockers (PLs) and their co-location patterns with urban features in Budapest, Hungary, analyzing deployment strategies across seven Logistics Service Providers (LSPs). Using kernel density estimation and spatial analysis of 1,359 PLs, we investigate their relationship with location context variables and provider-specific strategies. While PL distribution strongly correlates with population (r=0.89), PL density per resident shows minimal correlation with population density (r=-0.042), suggesting LSPs maintain consistent service coverage across areas of varying density. The analysis reveals distinct deployment strategies: Major providers demonstrate contrasting approaches between core and peripheral districts, while smaller providers show sophisticated niche strategies. PLs strongly co-locate with universities (62% in high-density zones), metro stations (50%), and commercial centers (25-29%). These findings provide valuable insights for urban logistics planning in emerging e-commerce markets, offering implications for developing efficient, sustainable urban logistics systems.
