난민의 서사를 통한 유럽 보편주의의 윤리적 재구성 -황석영의 바리데기를 중심으로-
초록
Hwang Seok-young’s novel, “Baridegi” shows the time flow sequentially from 1991 to 2005. Bari, the narrator, moves to London, England, from Chongjin in North Korea. This is a story of refugees.” OR “This novel centers on refugee storytelling. “Baridegi” begins with individual suffering and moves on to people’s problems. It further talks about the crisis of European refugees and the rift in the world system. Hwang Suk-young pays attention to Europe-centered universalism, which dominates an individual’s fate in “Baridegi,” and talks about people’s humiliation and suffering outside the European system of universalism. Hwang Suk-young paints the spatial movement of “Bari” through “The Storytelling of the Refugees” (Baridegi), which raises questions about universalism in Europe. The Romantic period in Chongjin, leading to a fractious experience in Musan, and the exclusion of the stateless in Yeon-gil and Dae-ryeon in China are starkly revealed. In Britain, he travels through Chinatown near Piccadilly Circus to a row house in the Rambus district of East London, exploring the class meaning of spatial isolation. The basic composition of the epic begins with North Korea’s “March of Trouble” and goes on to talk about the suffering of the lower classes in China. Also, in England, conflicts due to racial, cultural, and class differences are depicted, which led to routine violence linked to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks around the world, appropriately revealing that “daily suffering” has spread to all cells. The work criticizes, European universalism through “The Storytelling of Refugees.”
