This study examines the administrative operations of provincial governors in the Joseon Dynasty from the perspective of space and location, analyzing in which kinds of spaces, with whom, and through what tasks their official daily routines were actually carried out. To this end, 『Yeongyeong Ilgi』and『Yeongyeong Janggye Deungnok』, which cover the same period, were examined in a complementary manner to reconstruct the governor’s actual administrative activities. The analysis shows that the administrative space of the governor should not be understood as limited to specific buildings within Gamyeong, but rather as extending across the entire province under its jurisdiction. It also reveals a discrepancy between the official term of office and the actual period of administrative performance. This is because administrative duties continued for a certain period until the ceremonial handover (Gyogwisik) with the successor. Within the Gamyeong, functions were differentiated by building. And ceremonial functions and routine administration were operated in separate spaces. As a result, the governor sometimes moved between multiple locations within the Gamyeong in a single day, depending on the nature of the task. In particular, Gwanpunggak was used as a space for routine administrative work, and in some cases, it may also have served as a general term for the governor’s representative's administrative space. Meanwhile, the governor’s daily duties consisted not only of document administration, including the resolution of petitions and the drafting of official reports (Janggye), but also of face-to-face reports from local official. In practice, the governor’s administration operated through a combination of nearly daily document processing and frequent in-person interactions with local officials. By analyzing diaries and official reports together, this study seeks to understand the governor’s administrative activities not merely at the level of institutional regulations but from the perspective of actual operation. Through this approach, it was possible to identify concretely how the Gamyeong space was utilized and the specific operational aspects of local administration.
