철도가 만들어 낸 음식과 음식문화의 풍경: 식당차(食堂車), 손수레 매점, 호두과자, 대전역 가락국수의 등장

Food and culture created by railroads -Restaurant tea, cart bar, walnut cake, and Daejeon station's Garakguksu appearance

초록

Until now, railway research in Korea has been discussed only from the perspective of outpost work of colonization and continental invasion of Japanese colonial era Joseon. What I want to pay attention to in this article is how the opening of the railroad has changed the food culture of the Korean Peninsula. It should be noted that since the 1920s, unlike the previous period, passenger transportation by the general public has been remarkable. This is the result of the revitalization of local transportation and tourism. As a result of this, various amenities were prepared for customers on the train. One of them is a restaurant car on the train. Compared to the present, the trains of the time took a considerable amount of time to reach their destinations. Th is led to the need to eat food on the train, and the solution was to create a restaurant car on the train. So far, there have been several studies related to railroads, but changes in our food and cultural history have not been discussed. Focusing on this point, this article examines the food culture created by the infl uence of trains that have not been discussed before.
