This paper aims to propose a task-based educational approach involving the production of web dramas in small groups targeting intermediate-level learners in Korean language education. Through a review of previous studies applying task-based approaches, the advantages of small group activities, types of tasks, and the necessity of task activities for learner interaction were identified. Subsequently, web drama production was selected as a small group task type, and the course procedures and detailed plans were designed and implemented in actual classes. The results revealed positive effects of web drama production as a small group task, including enhanced learning motivation, improvement in both linguistic and non-linguistic communication skills, and the development of a sense of community and collaborative abilities among learners. Korean language classes should be designed to cultivate interest, motivation, and learner interaction, focusing on enhancing language communication skills through novel task types. Therefore, instructional approaches based on task-based methods, such as web drama production within small group activities, are deemed suitable for achieving these goals.
