This study stems from the recognition that living culture policies and research in Korea, since the 2014 Regional Culture Promotion Act, have inadequately captured youth and private actors’ living culture practices and outcomes. Research on community formation within neighborhood-based private cultural spaces also remains insufficient, limiting policy directions. Thus, this study examines “Drawer Grim Bang,” selected for Goyang Cultural Foundation’s “Modeu-ui Ajit” project, to explore characteristics, participation processes, roles, and effects of youth living culture programs. Methods included literature analysis, field observations, and in-depth interviews with youth participants and the space operator. Findings are as follows. First, youth chose private cultural spaces based on geographical accessibility and procedural flexibility, with neighborhood location and stepwise entry structures serving as key participation conditions. Second, bucket list themes fostered empathy among youth, with loose ties maintaining appropriate distance functioning as psychological safety nets for sustained activities. Third, diverse youth connected through drawing, exchanged different information, and experienced horizontal interactions, forming living culture-based loose communities within private cultural spaces. This study illuminates structural conditions for loose community formation among marginalized youth and private cultural spaces, offering practical implications for program design and policy support.
