초록
This study aimed to investigate the impact of daily life stress on meaninglessness in life among adults and to empirically examine the moderated mediating effects of gratitude and self-regulation. To achieve this, a survey was conducted with 250 adults residing in Seoul and the Gyeonggi metropolitan area. The findings are as follows: First, daily life stress had a significant positive effect on meaninglessness in life, confirming that external stressors act as a primary factor in eroding an individual’s sense of existential control. Second, gratitude played a significant mediating role in the relationship between stress and meaninglessness. Third, the inhibitory effect of gratitude on meaninglessness was significantly moderated by the level of self-regulation. Consequently, this study elucidated the process through which stress weakens psychological resources and leads to meaninglessness, while verifying that the interaction between gratitude and self-regulation functions as a dual defense system for sustaining life's meaning.
