분산·비통제 업무환경의 물리보안 위험과 대응 방향: 위험관리와 상황적 범죄예방의 결합을 중심으로

As remote and hybrid work arrangements proliferate, organizational workspaces have expanded beyond fixed, controlled facilities into distributed and uncontrolled environments—home offices, co-working spaces, and mobile work settings—fundamentally undermining the spatial control assumptions of traditional physical security systems. In these environments, physical security risks take the form of unauthorized access, information exposure, and device loss or theft. These risks extend beyond simple physical asset loss: they may evolve into complex threats involving identity and location spoofing, the blurring of insider-outsider boundaries, and the potential for stolen devices to serve as a foothold for unauthorized access to organizational systems. Moreover, these risks manifest differently depending on the nature of the environment and organizational factors such as size, security maturity, and work characteristics, and may escalate through cascading effects—rendering uniform control standards insufficient for effective response. This study proposes a combined approach integrating risk management, which prioritizes identified risks, with situational crime prevention (SCP), which derives context-specific controls suited to each environment. In doing so, it systematically examines physical security threats in remote work settings that have largely been addressed through a cybersecurity lens, and explores the possibility of extending SCP beyond fixed, controlled spaces to distributed and uncontrolled physical environments.
