Evidences of the Intravascular Erythropoiesis in Human Fetal Liver

초록

For the study whether intravascular erythropoiesis in addition to extravascular erythropoiesis occurs during human fetal hepatic erythropoiesis, ultrastructural investigation using serial thin sections was done with human fetal liver from 11 to 20 weeks of gestation when highly active erythropoiesis maintains. The results obtained were as follows. 1. The migrating erythroblasts in hepatic plates toward perisinusoidal egion were basophilic and polychromatophilic in 11 and 13 weeks of gestation but were acidophilic and reticulocyte in 18 and 20 weeks of gestation. 2. Various maturation stages of erythroblasts, from proerythroblast to reticulocyte migrated to sinusoidal lumen via migrating pores formed within the cytoplasm of sinusoidal endothelium. 3. The erythroblast in mitosis was found in hepatic sinusoidal lumen and migrating through sinusoidal wall at 11 and 13 weeks of gestation. 4. Eosinophilic erythroblasts were enucleated to form reticulocytes in sinusoidal lumen and the enucleated nuclei were often found in the lumen. In summary, immature erythroblasts in human fetal hepatic erythropoiesis migrate to sinusoidal lumen via migrating pore formed within endothelial cytoplasm. Migrated immature erythroblasts in lumen undergo maturation and are enucleated to form reticulocytes. So, intravascular erythropoiesis in addition to extravascular erythropoiesis occurs to produce reticulocyte during human fetal hepatic erythropoiesis.
