초록
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the influence of visual illusion on motor control. It also aims to elucidate the activation principle of the two visual streams via quantifying the amount of perceived information using the Index of difficulty(ID). Methods: Nine right-handed male participants who have normal vision or corrected vision volunteered in experiment. They performed three tasks(judgement task, discrete task, continuous task) to examine judged centre circle size and movement time(MT). Ebbinghaus illusion figures were presented randomly. In the judgement task, participants performed judgement tasks which involved verbally answering how much the centre circles' diameter was. In the discrete task, participants performed tapping tasks which involved tapping the target circle that was positioned opposite the starting circle one time. 20 trials per task were performed. In the continuous task, participants performed tapping task which involved tapping the centre circles reciprocally and alternately. 100 trials per task were performed. Results: All participants perceived the illusion. However, neither discrete movement nor continuous movement was affected by the distorted perception. Conclusion: The results of this study support the two visual streams theory that the brain processes visual information separately, suggesting that the ID set in this study were low enough to be processed immediately in the dorsal stream. The activation of the two visual streams could vary depending on the ID. We suggest that the ID is an important indicator that clarifies the principle of the two visual streams' activation.
