A Study on the Third Lausanne North and South Korean Sports Conference Talks in relation to the 88 Seoul Olympic Games

초록

In this study, focused on the 3rd Lausanne Sports Conference related to the 88 Seoul Olympic Games, we aimed to find out about the process of convening, meeting policy and the conference itself. North Korea and the IOC have proposed to the South a sports conference between the two Koreas before the ANOC General Assembly. Such a proposal was not made, and the third conference was held as scheduled. South Korea, like the first and second rounds of meetings, proposed the policy of excluding the joint Olympic host with North Korea and the formation of a unified inter-Korean team from the agenda for the conference. Then, South Korea has drawn up a detailed policy that two sports competitions can be allocated, including the final, to North Korea without addressing the issue of naming the Olympic that North Kora suggested. Through the consultation process, the IOC proposed to South and North Korea the assignment of table tennis and archery events, including the final round, to North Korea, the connection of South and North Korea in road cycling collective road competition, the allocation of one group of football preliminaries to North Korea, and the Olympic cultural events of North and South regions. Here, the IOC requested that the matter of acceptance to be expressed by June 30, 1986.
