대한연무관 운영 주체의 변화 과정에 관한 史的 고찰 : 1948년~1954년을 중심으로

The purpose of this paper is to examine the process of change in the management of the DaehanYeonmu-gwan during the Syngman Rhee regime from the historical perspective. To do so, I analysed the documents (complaints, impeachment letters, litigation, etc.), the magazine Yudo, and newspaper articles (Jayuilbo, Kookjesimun, etc.) of Lee Kyung-seok, who was the actual operator of the DaehanYeonmu-gwan. I also used previous studies on the subject, and the results are as follows. Syngman Rhee's regime inherited the vested property system that began during the US military regime. In the process, the newly enacted ‘The vested property disposal law’ changed the perception of the DaehanYeonmu-gwan among those involved in Judo. As a result, the DaehanYeonmu-gwan is a strong example of the collective memory of ‘ours’ that was forcibly taken away by the Japanese regime. The intergroup conflict over the DaehanYeonmu-gwan was preceded by emotions rather than rational and logical judgement, leading to the forced occupation of the DaehanYeonmu-gwan building by Korean Yudo Federation officials. The occupation of the building led to complaints and petitions to the relevant authorities, and eventually to a lawsuit. In the end, the High Court ruled that the building of the former DaehanYeonmu-gwan was vested property, but that the right to move was legitimate. The process of changing the operating entity of the DaehanYeonmu-gwan from private privatisation to public heritage is an example of the active use of the property disposal system to overcome the cultural trauma of the heritage stolen during the Japanese occupation. The change of ownership of DaehanYeonmu-gwan is an example of the multilayered and pluralistic history of Korean Yudo.
