The Book of Songs, or the Shijing, has been recognized as a classic text closely related to Confucianism's doctrine of music and education. Originally, the Songs were a means of understanding the world and grasping the spirit of the times. However, the post-Confucian interpretations have focused excessively on academic study. Nowadays, it is necessary to emphasize the purpose of compiling the Shijing and to use music to understand the spirit of the times. As songs reflect the transition and spirit of the times, it is important to focus on understanding the spirit of the times through music. The idol industry, which is at the forefront of desire, reflects the trends and changes of the times sensitively. The nationality and skin color of idol group members prove this. Hip-hop tends to reflect the times more quickly. Rappers express their desires as they are without restraint. The "Produce" series reflected Korean society's issues while also demonstrating Korea's cultural strength. The status of K-pop has significantly increased, demonstrating political power as well. Through the growth of Hive, the agency of BTS, one can feel the quantitative growth of K-pop, and the qualitative change and growth of K-pop can be felt through Lisa of Blackpink and Niziu of JYP. It also shows how much Korea's soft power has grown. Modern interpretation and education of the Shijing should be based on the original text but should proceed by linking contemporary K-pop, idols, and hip-hop to find the changes and spirit of the times conveyed in songs.
