The one little question that leads this study. If art function as the media, there are the points to secure the independent status of the character as Fine Art, the modern view of art. Because a character is one of the origin of media. Especially, we need to focus on the status of ‘Handwriting[書]’ which is advanced culture of East Asia. At the outset, it is imperative to clarify what we shall not polemicize here on this subject with Orientalism. This is not a resistance of imperialism, caused by the problems about who did the first uptake of modern times and the conflict between the East and West of superiority at today's civilization. These days people want to understand modern art, to consume, and to reconfigure rather than trivializing. It would be pointless to discuss this superiority issue. This study is to confirm creating principles of characters which are assets of civilization. These principles related to the human's effort who struggled to figure out patterns or rules in whole worlds with subjectivity. ‘Writer[文人]’ refers the person who want to find the patterns of whole systems and to formalize their thought through characters and images. The following three approaches to analysis are presented. First, this study addresses the meaning of ‘Character[文字]’ and properties of materials following important event of the process of ‘Character[文字]’ evolution which is element of ‘Handwriting[書]’. Second, this study inspects for elements of ‘Handwriting[書]’ and change of status of ‘Character[文字]’ following transformation of the contemporary paradigm through ‘Theory of writing[書論]’. Finally, this study focuses on the human's effort of finding patterns in landscape and fun from giving variety to these patterns. Through this three point of view, the purpose of this study is to elucidate the process of ‘Character[文字]’ evolution and to focus on the point of ‘Character[文字]’ to be a Fine Art as ‘Handwriting[書]’
