근대이후 건축에서 기술의 은유적 기능에 관한 연구

초록

This study aims to analyze and clarify the metaphorical function and poetical value of technology in modern architecture. The essence of technology not only refers to the production of things but also connotes the establishment of order. In this respect, technology retains, in addition to its instrumental facet, the poetical potential that can contribute to the harmony and virtue of mankind, one that termed as 'magical technology.' This is a manifestation of the will to overcome 'technology' related to productive ability by 'technē' as cultural practice which has its own autonomous discipline. And the second step of this study is to analyze the concept of 'theory of crisis in modern society and architecture' by technology. The instrumentalization and reification of technology and the loss of classical meaning in form had caused the crisis of modern architecture, and this is the key point of theory of crisis. But this discourse contained logical paradox, because technology already belongs to the domain of semiotics of form-making in modern age. This research will to relate it to the concept of a 'Poetics of technology'. Technology of today in itself has new potentialities for the culture of comtemporary world, if we can rehabilitate and redefine the nature and the poetic creativity of it.
