모바일 플랫폼에서 전자책(e-Book) 가독성에 관한 실증연구 - 타이포그래피 요소를 중심으로 -

With the development of digital technology in the 21st century, many changes and efforts are being made by the publishing industry, and with an increase of users of smart phones and tablet PCs over heavy paper books, the preference for the e-Book with easy portability and possession is increasing. The e-Book has many advantages over paper books but the domestic e-Book users prefer to purchase the mobile phones with high portability than the dedicated terminal. However, it is not easy seeing a small font for a long time in miniaturized mobile platform. Therefore this author, in order to study the readability of the e-Book in the mobile platform focusing on the body centered by the text, the degrees of satisfaction of users were examined to see how easy and fast users can understand any selected values.As a result, in the usage test of e-Book in the mobile platform, the level of understanding and satisfaction for reading was shown higher in the vertical direction than the horizontal direction, and the preferred typeface of the body as with paper books, Serif typeface was more suitable than the San Serif typeface. In the screen size of 4.0 inches, when the font of the e-Book was Serif, the font size of 6.5pt to 7.5pt had the highest readability, and it was learned that when the font size was used 0.5 or 1pt larger than the San Serif, the readability was higher. In the future, the researcher wants to contribute in raising the efficiency of the e-Book by analyzing the elements that influence more diverse readability in a variety of mobile environment.
