A Study on the Linguistic Construction and Cognitive Transformation in Reflective Writing — An Analysis of Reflective Structures as Discursive Practice —

초록

This study conceptualizes reflective writing as a discursive practice in which cognition is linguistically constructed and transformed. Forty reflective journals written over two years were analyzed using qualitative coding and discourse analysis. Six recurring linguistic features—emotion naming, relational positioning, symbolism, viewpoint shifting, role-taking, and cognitive or declarative statements—formed a cyclical structure of expression, interpretation, and transformation. Participant A reconstructed scarcity and anxiety through everyday imagery, while Participant B reinterpreted existence and relationships through symbolic language and perspective shifts. These findings show that reflection emerges through constructive and performative language use rather than internal introspection. The study proposes a language-based model for reflective discourse and offers implications for writing instruction, communication education, and therapeutic learning contexts.
