초록

The selection of materials is important to achieve a mechanically and economically reasonable steel structure. To utilize dissimilar steels with different strength levels by considering the applied stress state, the features of welded joints by the dissimilar steels should be investigated. This study examined the residual stresses in the welded joints with dissimilar steels of normal strength and high strength. Butt-welded joints were fabricated by SM400 (yield strength of 235 N/mm2 class) and SBHS500 (yield strength of 500 N/mm2 class). The welding residual stresses were measured by X-ray diffraction method. The welding process was simulated by finite element analysis. The measurement and numerical simulation results showed the influence of the different strength levels on the magnitude of tensile residual stress around the welded part and compressive stress in the base metal part. © 2025 IABSE Symposium Tokyo 2025: Environmentally Friendly Technologies and Structures: Focusing on Sustainable Approaches - Report All rights reserved.
