초록
This study compares translations of the spoken and written language. Three professional interpreters with translation experience of over 15 years after graduating from the Graduate School of Interpretation and Translation were considered for this research. They were asked to simultaneously interpret and translate the spoken and written language. Each result was compared through quantitative and qualitative analyses. Differences in the length of sentences and frequency of use by parts were considered for quantitative analysis. The results show that the length of sentences in the spoken language was shorter than that of the written language. In the frequency of use of each part of speech, the case-marking postpositional particle was used more in the written language to improve sentence accuracy and readability. The number of adverbs and adjectives was similar to the frequency of appearance in the original text. Translation strategies and errors were considered through qualitative analysis. Due to the characteristics of speech, there was no significant difference in translation strategies. Regarding error patterns, grammatical errors in the spoken language and Chinese character conversion errors occurred due to simple written language mistakes.
