The Triple Crisis of Capitalism and the New Cannot Be Born

초록

This paper discusses the ‘triple crisis’ of capitalism. The growth-oriented nature of capitalism, in conjunction with neoliberal ideology, has exacerbated the triple crisis of inequality, social reproduction, and ecological crisis. The purpose of this study is to observe the realities and trends of this triple crisis and to explore the new ideologies that may emerge in response. After the progressive neoliberalism and reactionary populism, the ‘new cannot be born’ is likely to take the form of progressive populism, neostatism, or a renewed socialism. The core of this new ideology, regardless of its name, should be grounded in a redefined statism and socialism that integrates and expands the demands of feminism and ecological movements. To address the triple crisis, this study proposes a policy package based on the discourse of degrowth, including progressive taxation, universal basic income, universal basic services, reduction of working hours, and universal caregiver model.
