어린이의 유튜브 및 게임이용시간에 영향을 미치는 부모중재요인 분석: 미취학아동 및 취학아동(초등저학년) 비교

초록

This study analyzed how much parental mediation affected Youtube and gaming use of children among preschool and school children. It analyzed the secondary data of <The Survey on Children’s Media Use> conducted by Korea Press Foundation in 2020. As a result, parental restrictive mediation had an effect on reducing media using time of children rather than parental active mediation. Especially the extent to which children conformed to parents’ mediation procedures led to the decrease of children’s media using time. Restrictive mediation worked in reducing Youtube and game use of the preschool children while conformity to parents as well as restrictive mediation were negatively associated with the media use of school children. This result indicates that restrictive mediation can be effective in decreasing media using time in the case of preschool children. As the extent to which school children conform to parental mediation is effective in reducing media using time, enhancing the credibility and intimacy between parents and children is important to decrease children’s media use. Overall, parental active mediation was not related to children’s media use.
