A Corpus-based Study of the Regard-PNP

초록

This study looks at the regard-PNPs, using extensive diachronic and synchronic corpus data. The regard-PNPs are grammaticalized by reanaysis, decategorization, etc. Analogy-induced grams regard-PNPs do not follow the usage-based frequency. As an alternative to interpret corpus data, conceptual frequency is proposed on the basis of pattern saliency. This article argues that the collocational and colligational flexibilities control the preference of the choices in the case of the regard-PNPs.
