초록

Increasingly controversial issue of state sovereignty in current international relations has produced serious theoretical debates on the nature of sovereignty and modern international order. Based upon critical examination of those debates, this article shows how postmodernism, social constructivism, and realism talk to each other and analyze the transitional nature of state sovereignty. Evaluating the constructive influence of the debate in American academia, this article does not fail to point out the limit of the debate in the field of International Relations as "American social science."
