This study aims to explore an in-depth plan for the classification of the types of occupation with in the athletics and sports industry and develop a characterized occupational interest inventory in the follow-up study so as to help understand student athletes' occupational choices. The subjects of study were 15 experts with an experience related to career guidance within the athletics and sports industry. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to explore the types of occupation in the athletics and sports industry to which student athletes can advance and to collect information about the career and verify their compatibility to reality. The obtained results through the study were as follows. First, in order to subdivide and specialize the careers student athletes can choose in the athletics and sports industry, it is necessary to develop a testing tool by characterizing the types of occupation related to specialties into six types (research, education, instruction, treatment, office work and field work). Second, it is necessary to subdivide and specialize the elements of activities so that the student athletes can connect jobs and careers considering characteristic factors such as interest and aptitude regarding their career choices. Third, like examples of advanced foreign countries, it is necessary to prepare a framework that allows student athletes in South Korea to explore a variety of information and aptitude for career in athletes and sports industry, rather than asking them to get career in fields other than sports. built.
