IPA분석을 활용한 국제카페리 화물운송의 디지털 전환에 관한 연구

As the shipping industry enters the era of Shipping 4.0, digital transformation (DX) has emerged as an essential strategy rather than a choice. However, in the field of international car ferry freight transport, awareness and investment in DX have remained relatively low due to the characteristics of small to mid-sized vessels, short- to mid-distance routes, and limited profitability. This study analyzes the current status of DX in international car ferry freight operations and seeks to derive strategic improvement directions through an Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA) of 14 DX-related items. The survey was conducted among both service providers (shipping companies) and users (shippers and forwarders). The results show that while both groups highly value functions such as “online booking,” “electronic documentation,” and “external platform integration,” the actual performance of these functions is low, highlighting the need for practical improvements and customized strategies. This study offers practical and policy implications for advancing DX in international car ferry freight transport.
