초록
This study investigated regional deprivation—negative perceptions held by young adults toward regional areas—and identified the factors that influenced their regional settlement intention, focusing on differences based on residential experience. The key findings are as follows: First, regional settlement intention significantly varied according to residential history. Young adults with past or current residence in regional areas demonstrated stronger intentions to settle in those areas. Second, perceptions of regional deprivation differed markedly by residential background. Young adults residing in metropolitan areas without prior regional living experience exhibited greater sensitivity to and concern about regional deprivation. Third, the impact of deprivation-related factors on settlement intention varied depending on residential experience. Those with prior or current experience in regional areas placed greater importance on the quality of the regional living environment, whereas metropolitan young adults without such experience emphasized macro-level socioeconomic conditions. Based on these findings, the study proposed targeted policy measures aimed at reshaping young adults’ perceptions of regional areas and promoting their long-term settlement.
